Why Rush Phi Delt : .
Phi Delta Theta was founded nationally in 1848 and locally in 1970. Phi Delta Theta was founded on three basic principles: Friendship, Sound Learning and Moral Rectitude. The brothers of Phi Delta Theta strive to uphold these principles everyday, whether we are participating in intramural sports, academic studies, hanging out, or attending one of our several parties. Phi Delta Theta competes competively every year in basketball, football, softball, ultimate frisbee and dodgeball. We also have a very active social calendar. During the fall, for every home game, we host a tailgate complete with food and drinks for all brothers and guests of brothers. We also host at least 2 band parties and many other weekend parties in the Fall. Along with the usual parties we host a Semi-Formal, also known as Phi's and Bowties, a Mountain Weekend date function, and our philanthropy Phi Delt 500. In the spring we hold our annual Toga party, Chariots for Charity philanthropy event, Ski Weekend in North Carolina, Formal at the beach, and Carolina Cup Horse Race. The brothers also enjoy the fellowship with one another through chapter events, such as the Alumni golf tournament, Pledge retreats, and brotherhood retreats.

Frequently Asked Questions : .
Q: How much time does it take to be in the Fraternity?
A: Like any organization, it all depends on how much time you wish to put into it. For basic purposes, an officer of our organization should expect to spend 5-8 hours a week with the Fraternity. A committee member can expect 3-5 hours a week. An average member can expect 1-3 hours a week. This time is spent in chapter meetings, committee meetings, service activities, socials, intramurals, etc.
Q: What is Phi Delta Theta's stance on Hazing?
A: We view hazing as unproductive, ridiculous, and hazardous. This bogus custom has no rightful place in the fraternity system. While social behavior cannot be legislated, a fraternity without morally sound precepts and practices is not a constructive influence upon college men. Phi Delta Theta promotes a program of continued education throughout fraternal life, because the only tool that combats hazing is education.
Q: What is Phi Delta Theta's alcohol policy?
A: On July 1, 2000, Phi Delta Theta led the fraternity world in becoming the first international fraternity to enforce alcohol-free housing. Alcohol-free housing creates a safe and clean living environment which is conducive to learning for a college man. Phi Delta Theta remains a social Fraternity that believes in the legal and responsible consumption of alcohol.
Q: Is Phi Delta Theta insured?
A: Yes, Phi Delta Theta is insured by James R. Favor & Co., an agent for the Lloyd's of London. Our policy covers you as long as you act within the boundaries of our Constitution, Bylaws, and our Risk Management Policies
